Amir and Hajra Triumph at Punjab Junior Tennis

The SICAS Punjab Junior Tennis Championship 2025 at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore showcased emerging talent across age groups as local players delivered strong performances in a competitive weekend of matches.

Amir Mazari dominated the Boys U-18 Singles final, defeating Asad Zaman 6-0, 6-2 to claim the title, while the doubles final saw Amir and partner Haroon Arif fall to the team of Asad Zaman and Abdullah Pirzada 6-1. Amir’s singles win underlined his form on the Punjab Junior Tennis circuit and marked a high point for his season.

Hajra Sohail emerged as a double champion, capturing both the Girls U-18 and Girls U-14 singles crowns. Hajra beat Bismal Zia 6-4 in the U-18 final and again prevailed in the U-14 final with a 6-2 score, reinforcing her standing as a leading prospect in junior tennis in Punjab.

In the Boys U-14 category, M. Umar Ali secured the singles title with a 5-4, 5-3 victory over Ohad-e-Mustafa and then teamed up with Ahmad Fareed Yawar to win the Boys U-14 Doubles final against M. Muaz and M. Ayan 4-2. Muhammad Muaz claimed the Boys U-12 singles title with a 6-4 win over Muhammad Aayan, while Khadija Khalil took the Girls U-12 crown after beating Aiman Rehan 6-2.

In the youngest boys’ draw, Salman Pirzada dominated the Boys I-10 final, defeating Daniyal Abdullah 6-0. Beginner girls’ events produced convincing winners as Iman Monoo beat Peershay Awan 6-1 in the U-12 beginner final and Arianna Ahmad overcame Nooriya 6-2 to win the U-14 beginner title.

The U-8 mixed category awarded gold to Musa Pirzada, silver to Faiz Pirzada and bronze to Ibrahim Faizan, while the U-6 mixed medals went to Sara Pirzada (gold), Om-e-Zahra (silver) and Haniya (bronze).

The Seniors 45+ Doubles final produced a tightly contested match as Talha Waheed (GO Petroleum) and Ashar Khan edged past the experienced pairing of Shehryar Salamat and Hadi Hussain 8-6. The runner-up duo had recently represented Pakistan at the ITF Masters World Championship in Turkey earlier this year, adding significance to the close encounter.

The prize distribution was led by Shehryar Salamat, Director of SICAS, who served as chief guest and presented trophies to winners and runners-up. Tournament Director and PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) expressed gratitude to SICAS and Mr. Salamat for their support in promoting junior tennis across Punjab, highlighting the importance of sustained backing for youth development on the Punjab Junior Tennis stage.
