Accelerating Industrial Growth in Pakistan
In Islamabad the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, met prominent industrialist SM Tanveer and his delegation to review national economic policies and the prevailing economic situation.
The discussion focused on measures to accelerate industrial growth, strengthen manufacturing capacity and align efforts with the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s economic vision. SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan said recent indicators point to positive improvement and called for coordinated action to sustain momentum for industrial growth.
Mr Khan outlined plans for a new industrial policy designed to attract investment and create a business-friendly environment. He emphasized forward-looking policy measures to boost competitiveness and stressed that promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises would be central to generating employment and expanding the industrial base.
Special attention was given to SME support, skills development and youth empowerment as part of a broader strategy to meet the demands of a modern industrial economy. The SAPM highlighted initiatives to facilitate access to finance, market linkages and training programs that can accelerate industrial growth and employment opportunities.
The meeting also underscored the enhanced role of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation in supporting regional industrial projects and facilitating private sector participation. Both sides reaffirmed commitment to close collaboration between government and business to remove obstacles, increase exports and drive sustainable economic development.
