Advancing Pakistan Russia Ties via Eurasian Connectivity
H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, delivered a lecture at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics, one of Russia’s foremost universities in economics and international affairs. The session drew undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as academic staff keen to explore evolving regional dynamics.
The lecture explored Eurasian connectivity and its implications for Pakistan-Russia bilateral relations, highlighting Pakistan’s geo-strategic role across the Eurasian space. Ambassador Tirmizi examined practical avenues for cooperation that could strengthen Pakistan Russia ties, including transport links, trade corridors and institutional partnerships.
Ambassador Tirmizi underscored the pivotal role of academic exchange in building durable mutual understanding. He stressed that interaction between students and scholars creates a platform for future diplomats and economists to engage directly with the current state of regional geopolitics and to shape policy thinking that supports deeper Pakistan Russia ties.
The event concluded with a lively question and answer session in which HSE students probed issues ranging from transport connectivity and corridor development to collaborative efforts in counter-terrorism and broader regional security cooperation. The discussion reflected a strong interest in translating academic dialogue into practical cooperation between Pakistan and Russian institutions.
For Pakistan, the emphasis on Eurasian connectivity offers opportunities to diversify partnerships and to expand people-to-people and institutional ties. The Ambassador’s engagement at HSE reinforced the view that sustained academic and policy exchanges are essential to advancing Pakistan Russia ties in the years ahead.
