Interior Minister Backs FIA Modernisation Drive
Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi visited the FIA Headquarters in Islamabad and met the newly appointed Director General FIA, Dr Usman Anwar, conveying his best wishes and discussing plans for FIA modernisation. The minister expressed confidence that, under Dr Usman Anwar’s leadership, the agency can become a model institution that meets public expectations.
Mohsin Naqvi said he expects Dr Usman Anwar to mobilise his full energy and capabilities to transform the FIA into a modern, strong and effective organisation. He pledged the ministry’s full support for initiatives aimed at upgrading systems, adopting new technology and improving institutional capacity as part of the wider FIA modernisation agenda.
Dr Usman Anwar outlined intentions to raise the FIA to international standards through targeted training programs and the adoption of modern technology. He said all necessary measures will be taken to strengthen operational efficiency and public service delivery while ensuring the agency keeps pace with evolving challenges.
During the visit the Interior Minister inspected an under-construction committee room at the FIA Headquarters and a decision was taken to reconstruct and renovate the building in line with contemporary needs. The Commandant National Police Academy, DG NCCIA, the Inspector General Islamabad Police and senior officers of the FIA were present during the meeting as stakeholders in the planned reforms.
