RDA and MCR Launch Joint Mechanism for Shop Disputes
A meeting convened on the directions of the Commissioner Rawalpindi and Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority, Engineer Aamer Khattak, focused on resolving long-standing shop disputes involving properties built on RDA land now under Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi possession.
Syed Nazarat Ali, Director Development and Finance, chaired the session attended by senior officials from RDA, MCR and WASA. Participants examined ownership and possession questions, record discrepancies and related administrative and technical matters in detail to address the shop disputes effectively.
The Director Development and Finance instructed all relevant departments to work constructively under the approved Terms of Reference, tackle data-related issues and submit practical suggestions accompanied by verified records. He stressed timely sharing of authentic data and stronger inter-departmental coordination to prevent further delays in resolving shop disputes.
Officials reached a consensus to streamline records and adopt a coordinated approach in the public interest, agreeing to establish a clear mechanism for future coordination to avoid similar conflicts and to ensure transparency, legality and better management of public assets.
As a next step, concerned departments will conduct a joint review of available records to reconcile discrepancies, verify documentation and update files in consultation with WASA to ensure accuracy, compliance with applicable laws and smooth implementation of mutually agreed decisions.
