Rawalpindi Traffic Improves Road Safety and Service
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam convened a meeting at the traffic headquarters with circle, sector and duty officers along with office staff to review traffic arrangements and administrative measures across the district. He provided a detailed briefing on steps to strengthen Rawalpindi traffic management and improve service delivery for road users.
Rawalpindi traffic officials were directed to adopt the practice of greeting citizens first and then engaging, ensuring that the uninterrupted flow of traffic and facilitation of road users remain the top priority during duty hours. The chief underscored that keeping traffic moving smoothly must guide every enforcement decision on the ground.
Officers were reminded to point out violations with patience and civility, and to maintain ethics and decorum when issuing challans or giving instructions. All legal actions must be transparent and strictly in accordance with the law to build public confidence in enforcement procedures.
Licensing centres were instructed to maximise facilities for citizens and expedite services. The chief warned that any officer found mistreating citizens, particularly women and the elderly, will not be tolerated, reinforcing a zero tolerance stance on misconduct.
To prevent accidents and protect life and property, enforcement of traffic laws must be uncompromising. The CTO called for zero tolerance on helmet and seatbelt violations, one-way breaches, speeding and other serious offences as part of a broader strategy to make Rawalpindi traffic safer.
Farhan Aslam emphasised that good conduct by traffic personnel is essential to foster trust between the police and the public and to position Rawalpindi as a provincial role model for effective, courteous and transparent traffic management.
