Pakistan Leads at IPU Hearing in New York
The Pakistan parliamentary delegation led by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate, has reached United Nations headquarters in New York to take part in the 2026 IPU Parliamentary Hearing. The six-member delegation is in the city for focused parliamentary diplomacy at the UN, with the IPU Hearing forming the centrepiece of its visit.
Delegation members will engage in sessions across February 12 and 13 where Pakistan will present its perspectives on global cooperation. The Chairman Senate is scheduled to deliver the national statement during the inaugural session on the theme “The UN at 80: Renewing trust and purpose through cooperation and partnership,” highlighting Pakistan’s emphasis on multilateral collaboration and renewed trust in international institutions.
On the sidelines of the IPU Hearing, the Chairman Senate will hold meetings with the President of the UN General Assembly and the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union today, underlining Pakistan’s intent to strengthen parliamentary ties and constructive dialogue. These engagements will provide opportunities to discuss common priorities and parliamentary contributions to global challenges.
The delegation’s participation in the IPU Hearing is expected to reinforce Pakistan’s role in multilateral forums and to advance cooperative partnerships through parliamentary channels. The delegation will attend multiple sessions over the two days, bringing Pakistan’s voice to discussions on the future of the UN and international cooperation.
