Rawalpindi Water Protest Demands Urgent Repair

Residents of UC-09 Badr Colony took to the streets on Saturday to protest the prolonged suspension of water supply, accusing the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of failing to fix a faulty tube well motor. The demonstration drew attention to a worsening Rawalpindi water situation as locals decried days without running water in several parts of the locality.

Families on Streets 17 and 18 and adjoining lanes near the drain reported being without water for days, forcing many to rely on limited reserves while carrying out essential household and religious duties during Ramadan. The lack of a steady Rawalpindi water supply has compounded daily hardship for residents observing fasts and managing household needs.

Zaheer Ahmad Awan, chairman of the Citizen Action Committee, told the crowd that tube well motors have frequently burned out across the city and called for the immediate replacement of the damaged motor in UC-09. He said failure to act quickly would deepen the crisis and urged WASA to restore uninterrupted service without delay.

Protesters warned of a stronger demonstration outside the WASA office if the problem is not resolved by tomorrow, and residents appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab and other concerned authorities to take immediate notice and arrange a prompt solution. The community stressed that swift repair and reliable Rawalpindi water delivery are essential to prevent further hardship during the holy month.
