Celebrating Hearing Impaired Art at PNCA
The Pakistan National Council of the Arts hosted the three-day exhibition ‘Silent Expressions II’ from 25 to 27 February 2026 at PNCA Islamabad, showcasing hearing impaired art by students who demonstrated remarkable creativity and technical skill.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training. The opening ceremony was attended by Federal Secretary Nadeem Mahbub and was spearheaded by Captain (R) Asif Iqbal Asif, Director General of Special Education, underlining the federal commitment to inclusive education and professional opportunities for students with hearing impairments.
Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, Director General PNCA, praised the high standard of the works on display, noting that many pieces reflected the caliber of established professional artists. Visitors found the collection compelling for its depth, maturity and the inventive use of medium that confirms the growing prominence of hearing impaired art in the national cultural scene.
A key announcement during the exhibition confirmed that several student internships will transition into permanent employment, a move the DGSE described as a step toward financial independence and dignity for the beneficiaries. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring no child is left behind through sustainable professional pathways tied to special education initiatives.
The public was invited to experience the exhibition at PNCA Islamabad between 25 and 27 February 2026, offering an opportunity to engage directly with the talent and to support the ongoing push for inclusive cultural and professional platforms for hearing-impaired artists.
