Promoting Digital Safety at LCWU Campus
The Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR), in collaboration with the Sociology Department of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), organised an awareness seminar at LCWU to promote responsible and ethical use of social media. The interactive session placed emphasis on digital safety, equipping students with practical guidance to recognise right conduct online and avoid harmful behaviour.
Speakers underlined that mindful engagement on social platforms can shape both personal reputation and professional opportunities, while misuse may carry serious legal consequences under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). Presenters explained how following ethical norms and understanding applicable laws are key to maintaining secure online interactions.
To encourage student participation and creative thinking around safe online practices, a poster competition was also organised. The activity aimed to spark constructive dialogue on digital safety and allowed students to express ideas on preventing misuse of social media through visual communication.
By hosting the seminar and competition at a major Lahore women’s university, MoHR and LCWU sought to strengthen awareness of digital safety among young users and foster a culture of responsible online behaviour across campus and beyond.
