Kinnaird College Clinches Intervarsity Cricket Title

Kinnaird College for Women emerged as champions of the Lahore Intervarsity League Cricket Tournament after a dominant nine-wicket victory over the University of Education in the final at Kinnaird College Lahore.

The University of Education won the toss and elected to bat but managed only 35 for 7 in six overs. Only Tehreem reached double figures with 15 runs, while Kinnaird’s bowling attack kept the innings tightly controlled. Amania Abid stood out for Kinnaird, claiming three important wickets to stall the opposition.

Chasing a modest target of 36, Kinnaird College reached the mark inside two overs with one wicket down. Fatima Shahid played an aggressive cameo, finishing with a sparkling 28 to guide her side to victory in the Intervarsity Cricket final.

Lahore College for Women University secured third place in the event. The closing ceremony was presided over by Principal Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, who presented trophies and medals to the winning teams and standout players. Distinguished guests included Vice Principal Dr. Kalsoom Akhtar, Dr. Aiysha Safdar (Academic Dean Social Sciences and Law), Dr. Helen Khokhar (Dean of Intermediate) and Dr. Ammara Rubab (Head of Sports Department).

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum praised the performances across the tournament and encouraged students to take part in sports alongside academic pursuits. She emphasized the role of Intervarsity Cricket in building discipline, confidence, teamwork and healthy competition among young women at Lahore’s universities.
