Accelerating SLES localization in Pakistan

In Karachi, L’Oréal Pakistan announced the successful localization of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) by qualifying Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd as a local supplier, advancing SLES localization for shampoo production and reducing dependence on imports.

Rehan Saeed, Executive General Manager at L’Oréal Pakistan, said, “This achievement demonstrates our unwavering trust in Pakistani industry and its technical capability. For us, localization is a strategic enabler for future growth. By developing local supplier capability to global standards, we are not only strengthening our own supply chain resilience and agility but also contributing to the broader development of the Pakistani manufacturing ecosystem.”

SLES localization is expected to shorten supply chains, reduce logistics-related carbon emissions and improve lead times, allowing faster responses to market needs and consumer trends. The move supports a long-term sustainability approach that aligns with L’Oréal’s regional growth plans while reinforcing the local industrial base.

Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd completed a rigorous global qualification process to meet L’Oréal’s quality and compliance requirements, demonstrating that Pakistani suppliers can satisfy demanding beauty-tech standards. This success provides a blueprint for further raw material localization opportunities across the country.

By investing in local partnerships and supplier capability, L’Oréal Pakistan aims to build a more resilient, agile and sustainable supply chain that supports future growth and contributes to Pakistan’s manufacturing development through trusted collaborations like the one with Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd.
