UN Steps Up Climate Support for Pakistan
Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik met with United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Mohamed Yahya in Islamabad on September 23, 2025 to discuss strengthening collaboration on climate priorities.
Mr. Yahya highlighted that 24 UN agencies are active in Pakistan, working to support the country’s development and resilience. The session focused on expanding climate support through large-scale UN programs, examining their scope, implementation strategies and measurable impact on communities across provinces. Discussions considered how to better align UN initiatives with national plans for adaptation, mitigation and sustainable development to deliver concrete results.
Both officials emphasised a shared commitment to accelerate climate support that protects the most vulnerable. Mr. Yahya reaffirmed the UN’s continued backing for Pakistan’s climate agenda, while Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed the sustained partnership and underlined the government’s determination to strengthen collaborative frameworks to ensure tangible outcomes for communities facing climate risks and environmental challenges.
