Advancing HPV Vaccination for Girls in Islamabad

Minister of State for Health Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath visited Islamabad Model School for Girls (G-6/1-3) where the HPV vaccination campaign is underway and spoke to the media about its importance for young girls across the city.

Addressing reporters, he said, “This is not just a vaccination drive—it is a promise for our daughters’ brighter future. Every vaccinated girl is a guarantee of a safe life, a safe family, and a safe future.” His remarks highlighted the long-term social and health benefits of widespread immunization.

The minister reassured parents that the HPV vaccine is safe, halal, and in line with Islamic values, stressing that concerns about religious permissibility have been addressed. He pointed out that countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh have already integrated the vaccine into their national programmes.

Dr. Bharath also referenced international guidance, noting that the World Health Organization affirms the vaccine has the potential to save millions of lives. Local rollout in Islamabad aims to follow those global best practices while maintaining community trust and cultural sensitivity.

Parents are urged to bring their daughters aged 9-14 to participating schools to receive the HPV vaccination free of cost. Officials say early immunization will protect health, support uninterrupted education, and strengthen prospects for a safer future for girls across Pakistan.
