Private Schools Network Strengthens Highway Zone Leadership
Dr. Muhammad Afzal Babar, founder and central president of the Private Schools Network Pakistan, addressed the 13th Highway Zone election ceremony and described the presence of the central secretariat in the Highway Zone as a significant honour that should set a model for other zones. He recalled that the Network held three national roundtable conferences to advance the private education sector and said the organisation will engage with PERRA, the Federal Board, the Federal Directorate of Education and other government departments to resolve outstanding issues facing low-income private schools.
Central General Secretary Maqbool Hussain Dar explained that the Highway Zone has been divided into two administrative segments to strengthen grassroots connectivity and ensure more responsive communication with member schools. He said the reorganisation is aimed at improving coordination and service delivery for smaller private institutions across the zone.
Central Vice President and Election Commissioner Haji Abdul Nadeem Mughal supervised an open ballot that confirmed Mahmood Hussain Rafi as Highway Zone president unopposed and elected Syed Sajjad Hussain as general secretary. Maqbool Hussain Dar administered the oath to all newly elected zonal officers following the vote.
Other elected officers named at the ceremony include male vice president Amir Shehzad, female vice president Maimoona Shafiq, finance secretary Tayyab Shehzad, sports secretary Adeel Abbasi, information secretary Dr. Noman Saeed, secretary for co-curricular activities Sidra Al-Muntaha, and coordinators Azhar Rasool for New Abadi, Mudassar Iqbal for Iqbal Town and Muhammad Rizwan for Zia Masjid. The new team will work under the Private Schools Network banner to strengthen local representation and press for practical policy reforms.
