Ethiopian Airlines Strengthens Pakistan Africa Ties
H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, met H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, at the Chief Minister’s office in Karachi on Tuesday to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders reviewed progress across trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture and climate change and explored new collaboration in agriculture and agro-processing, education and health to broaden economic ties between Sindh and Ethiopia.
The Ambassador praised the Chief Minister’s recent initiative to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the Chief Minister Sindh House, underscoring its importance in formalizing joint efforts on climate resilience and sustainable development.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker also briefed the Chief Minister on preparations in Addis Ababa to receive a large delegation for Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition scheduled for October, highlighting the exhibition as a timely platform to showcase Pakistani trade and investment opportunities to African buyers.
Both officials noted the growing air connectivity driven by Ethiopian Airlines and its strategic role in Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa agendas. The Chief Minister described Ethiopian Airlines as a game-changer for Pakistan-Africa relations, emphasizing how improved flights can unlock trade, tourism and people-to-people links from Sindh to key African markets.
The Chief Minister commended the Ambassador’s proactive diplomacy and pledged to further strengthen bilateral engagement to elevate ties. Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, attended the meeting and contributed to discussions aimed at translating the dialogue into concrete initiatives.
