Advancing Smart Virtual Hospital Care in Pakistan

Islamabad saw a high-level Zoom meeting chaired by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal to discuss a new smart virtual hospital project for Pakistan. The session featured Dr Waqas Ahmad, CEO of American Telemedicine Physicians, who presented a detailed briefing on how telemedicine can reach underserved areas.

Joining the minister and Dr Waqas were the Joint Secretary (Hospitals), the DG Development, and officials Samad and Athar, who reviewed technical and operational aspects of the proposal. Dr Waqas outlined plans to deploy telemedicine networks and remote consultation services to expand primary and specialist care across distant districts.

The federal health minister praised the smart virtual hospital initiative and emphasized that leveraging modern technology is an urgent priority for improving health services. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensure every Pakistani receives quality, affordable and timely medical care, and urged fast-tracked collaboration to implement telemedicine solutions where they are needed most.
