Strengthening Midwifery Education in Pakistan

A five-day National BS Midwifery Faculty Development simulation workshop brought together midwifery educators from across Pakistan to enhance teaching techniques and clinical training. The event focused on practical, simulation-based methods to improve the quality of midwifery education and better prepare faculty who are shaping the next generation of midwives.

With technical support from Burnet Institute Australia and backing from UNFPA Pakistan, participants engaged in hands-on sessions designed to translate classroom learning into safe clinical practice. MONHSR&C and the Health Services Academy joined partners in reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthen faculty capacity and standardize approaches to midwifery education nationwide.

The workshop emphasised realistic simulation scenarios to refine assessment, decision-making and mentorship skills among faculty. By embedding simulation into curricula, trainers aim to raise midwifery education standards and ensure consistent clinical competencies for students entering maternal and newborn care roles.

Improving faculty skills through targeted development initiatives supports a broader goal of quality maternal and newborn services in Pakistan. Continued investment in faculty development and simulation training will help ensure every mother and newborn receives the competent care they deserve.
