easypaisa digital bank expands global remittances
easypaisa digital bank marked its first anniversary by reporting more than 3.8 billion transactions in 2025 valued at over PKR 15 trillion and unveiling a major international remittance partnership.
The bank announced a collaboration with Ant International’s WorldFirst platform that will allow customers to receive cross-border payments and remittances from more than 100 countries in over 100 currencies directly into their accounts. The move extends remittance reach beyond traditional corridors such as the GCC, the UK and the US and is designed to support freelancers, exporters and overseas Pakistanis seeking faster and more convenient pay-ins.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated easypaisa and said the government is prioritising the digital economy, noting that accelerated digitisation and rising IT exports signal positive economic momentum and that 5G is planned for rollout next year.
Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani emphasised the importance of having digital finance practitioners at the policy table to demonstrate the tangible benefits of a cashless economy. Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan described the anniversary as a source of pride for Pakistan’s financial ecosystem, while Douglas Feagin, President of Ant International, reaffirmed Ant Group’s long-term commitment to building inclusive digital finance solutions in Pakistan.
With digital transactions estimated at around 11 percent of Pakistan’s GDP, easypaisa digital bank now serves one in five Pakistanis and reports that women make up 31 percent of its user base, underlining its growing role in driving digital payments, financial inclusion and economic formalisation across the country. The bank is backed by shareholders Telenor Group and Ant Group as it expands local and international payment connectivity.
