Opening Farabi Centre Strengthens Pakistan Kazakhstan Ties

The minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Nurbek, visited Quaid-i-Azam University alongside Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to inaugurate the new Farabi Centre on campus. The opening of the Farabi Centre marks a visible step in academic cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

During the visit Nurbek reflected on historical intellectual currents, noting a past era of Islamic influence on scholarship and saying that Al-Farabi was essential to Western thought and is often regarded as a second teacher after Aristotle. He also highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant potential in agriculture and signalled interest in academic collaboration in this sector.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui described the current global situation as delicate and called the inauguration a milestone in Pakistan Kazakhstan relations. He said both countries should actively seek further opportunities to deepen bilateral ties in education, research and vocational training, linking the Farabi Centre’s work to those goals.

The university presented honorary shields to both leaders in recognition of the visit. The Farabi Centre is expected to serve as a platform for joint research, academic exchanges and projects that could include agricultural development, reflecting the ministers’ emphasis on education-driven cooperation.
