Netherlands Launches Human Rights Dialogue in Lahore

The Netherlands’ Human Rights Ambassador Wim Geerts received a warm welcome in Lahore as he began a programme of meetings under the banner of a focused Human Rights Dialogue. Day one brought a series of impactful conversations with state actors and civil society leaders that set the tone for continued cooperation between Dutch representatives and local stakeholders.

Ambassador Geerts’ participation at the Asma Jahangir Conference provided a platform for open exchange on pressing rights issues, and the discussions were described as rich and constructive. The Human Rights Dialogue emphasised mutual understanding and the importance of inclusive engagement across government, legal circles and civil society networks in Lahore.

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan highlighted the ambassador’s commitment to sustained dialogue, noting that these initial meetings aim to deepen collaboration on human rights concerns relevant to Pakistan’s civic landscape. Stakeholders attending the sessions welcomed the opportunity for direct conversation and signalled interest in building on the momentum established during the first day.
