Boosting Alumni Engagement at PMAS Arid University

A focused meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi set in motion a comprehensive plan to strengthen alumni engagement across departments and campuses. The session brought together the Director Financial Assistance, the Director Quality Enhancement and representatives from faculties, institutes, departments and administrative units to agree on concrete steps for sustained graduate involvement.

Participants decided that every department and institute will appoint a dedicated focal person to coordinate alumni engagement and communication, and to spearhead the creation of an Alumni Scholarship and Student Support Fund. The initiative aims to channel alumni contributions into tangible student support while enhancing professional links between graduates and current students.

To keep alumni connected and update records, each department was instructed to host an annual alumni dinner, reunion, seminar or networking event. Such gatherings will provide opportunities for mentoring, knowledge sharing and collaborative projects, reinforcing the value of alumni engagement in academic and career development for students in Pakistan.

Recognising the expanding Pakistani alumni community abroad, the Vice Chancellor asked departmental focal persons to identify overseas graduates and support the formation of alumni groups and chapters in key countries. These international networks are expected to raise the university’s global profile and foster research and professional linkages that benefit both alumni and the institution.

The Vice Chancellor also directed the Director Financial Assistance and relevant offices to strengthen communication channels through updated databases, digital platforms, regular newsletters and social media outreach. Attendees reaffirmed their commitment to turning the university alumni network into an active community that contributes to institutional growth, student success and national progress.
