ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has welcomed the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in the holy city of Makkah, describing it as an important development for unity in the Muslim Ummah and durable peace in the region.
In her statement, the minister said the agreement had opened new avenues for peace, solidarity and mutual cooperation among Muslim nations. She said coming generations would remember the pact as a bright new chapter of brotherhood, trust and shared peace.
Shaza Fatima paid tribute to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. She said their timely and wise decisions had shown that strong and sincere leadership could bring nations closer and create a path towards peace.
The federal minister also appreciated the tireless, round-the-clock efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, thanking them on behalf of the nation.
She said the joint efforts of Pakistan’s military and political leadership had helped the country achieve a new standing on the global stage as a champion of peace.
Referring to the terms of the agreement, Shaza Fatima said an attack on any one of the three brotherly countries would be treated as an attack on all of them. Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, she added, would use all available resources to ensure each other’s defence and security.
The minister thanked the leadership of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, saying the agreement had generated renewed resolve, confidence and hope across the Muslim Ummah.
