Pakistan, September 18, 2026: Coke Studio Nu.WAV has continued its run with Rangeen, a new song featuring Hasan Raheem and Izzchugtai, produced by Umair. The track brings together longing, love and youthful romance in a brighter, more playful musical setting.
The song began when Umair shared a beat with Hasan. Its melody later took shape almost instinctively during a drive home. Instead of removing that sense of spontaneity, Umair let his hip-hop sensibility meet the track’s more classical mood, resulting in a song that remains easy and light while carrying a clear feeling of yearning.
Hasan’s performance moves towards affection and imagined romance, while Izzchugtai’s entry changes the song’s energy, adding another colour and layer to the record.
The music video has been directed by Arham Ikram. It uses the familiar style of filmi romance but gives it a playful twist. Set in a pastel-toned version of Lahore, the video places Hasan on a rooftop during Basant, where a brief glimpse of a girl across the way becomes the starting point of an entire romance in his imagination.
Kites fill the sky, stones are thrown towards balconies and an infatuated hero begins to picture a future with someone he has hardly met. The story unfolds with the logic of a daydream rather than reality.
Hashim Ali’s production design presents Lahore not exactly as it is, but as it might exist in memory. Pastel façades, patterned tiles and fabrics, old computers, CDs, cassettes and film posters build a world shaped by an early-2000s childhood. As Hasan’s imagined romance grows, the setting becomes more colourful, heightened and deliberately unreal.
Speaking about Rangeen, Kamal Khan, Executive Producer, Coke Studio Nu.WAV, said: “Rangeen was kind of easy in the best way. Hasan and Umair already had it. The song, the world, everything. They knew Izzchugtai would work. Arham knows Hasan well enough to just get it. He brought this cool filmy, coming-of-age feel to whole video. He just belongs in that. And Hashim, Aamir and Faraz made the whole thing look incredible.”
The fantasy, however, eventually meets reality. As the imagined courtship seems to be moving towards an expected ending, the arrangement opens into shehnai, performed by Muhammad Salim, for a wedding that brings the dream sharply back to earth. Still, Rangeen does not turn heartbreak into tragedy. Its world leaves room for another rooftop, another Basant and perhaps another romance under a sky filled with kites.
The release also brings together three artists working across Pakistan’s contemporary pop, R&B and hip-hop landscape. Hasan Raheem is among the defining voices of Pakistani indie-pop and R&B, known for his distinctive vocal style across releases including Aisay Kaisay and Joona. He was also Spotify RADAR Pakistan’s inaugural artist and appeared in Coke Studio Season 14’s Peechay Hutt with Talal Qureshi and Justin Bibis.
Izzchugtai represents a newer generation of multidisciplinary Pakistani artists moving between production and performance. Emerging from Lahore’s contemporary music scene, his work includes collaborations and solo releases such as Ghuroor, LOVE BOMB, AWAY FROM ME, Junoon and Nadiyan Paar.
Umair, the Karachi-born producer and songwriter behind the track, has developed a catalogue that began with beats made in his bedroom as a teenager and now includes more than 150 releases and collaborations across Pakistan and the wider South Asian music landscape. His previous work with Hasan includes Radha, OBVIOUS and MAKE YOU MINE. He has also worked with artists including Young Stunners, Asim Azhar and Talwiinder.
With Kamal Khan as executive producer, Rangeen is produced, composed and mixed by Umair. The song has been co-arranged by Umair and Hasan Raheem, while Hasan also leads the vocal arrangement, vocal composition and lyrics. Mastering has been done by Sean Tallman.
The video is directed and edited by Arham Ikram, with Aamir Mughal as Director of Photography. Hashim Ali has led production design and art direction. The project is produced by Gali Films, with Iman Khan as Producer.
