Climate Smart Agriculture Book Launched at PMAS-AAUR

A significant milestone in agricultural research was achieved at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) with the inauguration of the book “Climate Smart Agriculture for Future Food Security,” authored by Dr. Rai Muhammad Amir and published internationally by Springer. The publication outlines innovative, sustainable, and practical approaches to tackle food security threats posed by climate change, especially in arid and semi-arid regions.

The inauguration ceremony took place at PMAS-AAUR, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar uz Zaman and Registrar Mr. Muhammad Aqeel Sultan jointly unveiled the book amidst an audience of distinguished scholars, researchers and students. Recognized globally for its scholarly output, Springer’s publication of this timely work underscores international acknowledgment and reinforces the university’s prestigious position in agricultural research and innovation.

Authored by Dr. Rai Muhammad Amir from the university’s Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences, the book addresses critical contemporary issues regarding climate change and agriculture. Dr. Amir offers scientific models, practical strategies, and sound policy recommendations aimed at helping researchers, policymakers, agriculturists, and students develop and implement “climate smart” methods that ensure future food security.

During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar uz Zaman commended Dr. Amir for his valuable contributions. He stressed the necessity of promoting indigenous research to effectively confront the growing agricultural challenges triggered by climate change. Such international publications, he said, not only bring pride to PMAS-AAUR but significantly enhance its standing at the global academic level.

Registrar Muhammad Aqeel Sultan also praised the publication, stating, “This book represents a proud addition to our academic achievements. It emphasizes our university’s dedication to addressing global problems through meaningful indigenous research.”
