**OIC-COMSTECH and Ningbo University Launch International Certificate Course on Applied Biomedical A.I.**

OIC-COMSTECH, in partnership with China’s Ningbo University, has launched a major international certificate course on Applied Biomedical Artificial Intelligence, drawing over 1,000 young scientists and researchers from 30 countries. The hybrid-format program, inaugurated at COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, aims to equip participants with practical AI skills for biomedical and healthcare applications, particularly benefiting professionals from low- and middle-income OIC member states.

The inauguration ceremony opened with a welcome address from Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH. Highlighting the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in healthcare, Prof. Choudhary outlined AI’s expanding roles in disease diagnosis, drug discovery, predictive analytics, and personalized medicine. He described the 19-day certificate course as a significant step in international scientific collaboration and emphasized strict participation criteria, with attendees required to complete at least 80% of sessions to qualify for certification.

Keynote speakers included prominent Chinese scientists such as Prof. Dr. Liu Xinmin, Chief Scientist at the Institute of Drug Discovery, Ningbo University. Prof. Liu highlighted the crucial role of global partnerships in advancing biomedical innovation. Academician Prof. Dr. Zhao Yufen, Director at the Institute of Drug Discovery Technology, joined the event virtually as guest of honour, stressing the global need to cultivate AI-driven talent for advances in health innovation.

Prof. Dr. Yuzong Chen, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Oncogenomics, presented an overview of the course and delivered the inaugural technical lecture, focusing on the latest AI applications in chemical genomics and drug development.

A live question-and-answer session concluded the event, marking the official start of a high-impact academic program expected to deepen long-term scientific cooperation between the OIC and China.
