World Rangers Day Honoring Margalla Hills Rangers

**Margalla Hills Rangers Honored on World Rangers Day for Bravery and Sacrifice**
On World Rangers Day, the Ministry of Climate Change of Pakistan honored the courageous rangers of Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP), recognizing their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the region’s forests, wildlife, and natural landscape. The celebration, held at Trail 5, served as both a tribute to the daily efforts of these frontline protectors and a moment of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Rangers at MHNP undertake a range of critical tasks, including patrolling the park in all weather conditions, preventing illegal activities, and responding to emergencies such as wildfires. Their vigilance plays a vital role in preserving the park’s fragile ecosystem and ensuring the safety of its diverse flora and fauna.
A particularly poignant part of the event was the special homage paid to Ranger Safeer Shah, who lost his life while on duty after coming under fire. The ministry emphasized that Shah’s bravery and dedication to the park would always be remembered and that his sacrifice stands as a powerful reminder of the risks rangers face every day.
Officials urged the public to acknowledge and support the rangers, whom they described as “silent heroes” working tirelessly to protect the environment. The observance of World Rangers Day highlighted the essential role these men and women play in wildlife conservation and environmental protection across Pakistan.
