HPV Vaccine Launch to Protect 13 Million Girls in Pakistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan, along with its partners, has joined forces with the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Pakistan to launch a major initiative aimed at protecting millions of girls from cervical cancer. Representatives from these organizations gathered at Foundation University Islamabad for a strategic seminar supporting the planned introduction of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in Pakistan.
The new initiative will see the HPV vaccine made widely available to girls across the country, with the goal of immunizing 13 million girls against the virus that is the leading cause of cervical cancer. By providing access to this lifesaving vaccine, health officials hope to drastically reduce future cases of this preventable disease.
The seminar brought together health experts, policymakers, and educational leaders to discuss strategies for ensuring the vaccine’s successful rollout. Key topics included public awareness campaigns, vaccine distribution logistics, and partnerships with communities to promote participation in the immunization program.
The introduction of the HPV vaccine in Pakistan represents a significant step forward in the country’s fight against cervical cancer and in improving women’s health nationwide.
