Nepal Delegation Discusses Gender-Responsive Budgeting in Pakistan

A parliamentary delegation from Nepal met with Syed Naveed Qamar, Member of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, in Islamabad to discuss strategies for promoting gender-responsive budgeting. The talks highlighted the importance of incorporating gender perspectives into financial planning and government expenditure to ensure equitable development.

The Nepali delegation included Federal Parliament members Nagina Yadav, Bhagabati Neupane, Puja Chaudhary, and Gaura Nepali. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas and best practices on making national budgets more inclusive for women and marginalized communities.

Discussions also touched on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal in the field of public finance, with a particular emphasis on progressive budgetary reforms that support social equality. The meeting underscored the commitment of both countries to advancing gender equity through effective policy design and implementation.
