Russia Celebrates National Flag Day, Islamabad Monument Lit in Russian Colors
Islamabad —Russia celebrates its National Flag Day, a day to honor the country’s official flag, symbolizing its sovereignty, freedom, and multiethnic heritage. The Russian tricolor has a history spanning over three centuries and is attributed to Emperor Peter I (Peter the Great), who in 1705 ordered the white, blue, and red flag to be flown on commercial ships.
The Russian national flag is a rectangular banner with three equal horizontal stripes: white on top, blue in the middle, and red at the bottom. To mark the occasion, Islamabad’s Pakistan Monument was illuminated in the colors of the Russian flag, reflecting the warm friendship between Pakistan and Russia.
