A specialized one-day training program on cybercrime was held for judges in Sindh, aiming to enhance their understanding of digital offenses and related legal procedures. The event featured expert trainers, including Mukesh Kumar, an Advocate of the High Court of Sindh, and Mumtaz Hussain, an Inspector from the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Sindh.

The training began with an introduction to cybercrime, highlighting the most common types encountered in Pakistan. Participants learned about digital threats and the unique challenges posed by these offenses in the country.

Subsequent sessions provided judges with an overview of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and its relevant legal provisions. The trainers explained how PECA addresses modern cyber offenses and the legal framework available to prosecute such crimes.

A detailed discussion was held on investigation procedures and rules, focusing on the operational mechanism of the FIA. The role of investigating officers during cybercrime investigations was examined, with emphasis on evidence collection, including seizure, recovery, arrest, and search procedures. Judges were also briefed on strategies for gathering evidence when service providers are located outside the court’s local jurisdiction.

The session on trials covered the rules and procedures for handling cybercrime cases in court. Trainers addressed the appreciation of digital evidence and shared insights into the specific challenges faced by judicial officers, especially in cases involving sexual offenses.

The program concluded with a closing address delivered by Noor Muhammad Kalmati, a faculty member at the Sindh Judicial Academy (SJA). Certificates were distributed to participants, followed by a group photograph to mark the occasion.
