Summer Sports Training Camps Kick Off at Rawalpindi Sports Complex

A series of summer sports training camps have commenced across Punjab, including in Rawalpindi, as part of the provincial government’s initiatives to promote sports among youth. The camps, organized under the Sports Board Punjab and supervised by senior officials, aim to provide young athletes with professional coaching across multiple disciplines, benefiting over 150 children so far.

At the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex in Rawalpindi, the summer training camp was officially inaugurated by Division Sports Officer Choudhary Waheed Ahmad, District Sports Officer Shams Tohid Abbasi, Sain Malik Ijlal, Syed Aamir Abbas Gilani, and Muhammad Sajid. The opening ceremony was attended by officials and young athletes seeking to develop their skills in various sporting activities.

The training camp offers specialized coaching in sports such as swimming, table tennis, badminton, squash, karate, taekwondo, and gymnastics. The initiative is part of a broader campaign launched across Punjab, which runs from June 24 to August 7, aiming to foster sports talent among children aged five to 19. Experienced coaches, some with more than five years of experience, are engaged to guide young participants. All children participating in the camps will receive T-shirts and certificates upon completion of their training.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Sports Minister Faisal Khokhar, Secretary Sports Khizar Afzal Choudhary, and Director General Sports Khizr Afzal Choudhary have prioritized these camps as part of broader efforts to nurture sporting excellence and promote healthy activities among youth throughout the province. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure and encouraging a sports-centric culture among the younger generation.
