JPMC ministers form joint committee to resolve issues

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho held a virtual meeting to address administrative and operational problems at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi and agreed to form a joint federal-provincial committee to review issues and recommend actionable solutions to ensure uninterrupted health services.

The meeting brought together the two ministers and senior officials from the relevant health departments. Participants conducted a detailed review of the administrative and operational challenges currently affecting JPMC, one of Karachi’s largest public medical facilities.

Both ministers emphasized the need to resolve problems that could disrupt patient care and other essential services. They agreed that swift, coordinated action is required to maintain consistent service delivery for patients who depend on the centre.

To oversee this process, Mustafa Kamal and Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho jointly decided to establish a committee composed of representatives from both the federal and provincial governments. The committee’s mandate will be to examine all aspects of the issues facing JPMC and to produce effective, practical recommendations.

The committee is expected to deliver proposals that address immediate operational setbacks as well as longer-term administrative reforms. Ministers underscored that once recommendations are finalized, all necessary steps will be taken to ensure timely implementation and to monitor progress until problems are resolved.
