Humaira Asghar Family Response to Media Allegations

The brother of late actress Humaira Asghar, Naveed Asghar, has responded strongly to media speculations and clarified the family’s position, emphasizing their struggles to locate and maintain contact with her. Humaira was recently found deceased in her apartment after several months, and her family firmly rejected accusations that they had severed ties with her.

In a statement aimed at addressing ongoing rumours, Naveed described his sister as “independent and dignified,” adding emotionally, “May Allah forgive her and ease her journey ahead.” He strongly dismissed claims of family estrangement, explaining that the family had been continuously coordinating with the Chhipa welfare organization and local police authorities over the last three days to receive Humaira’s body. The delay in their arrival in Karachi was attributed solely to necessary legal procedures.

Providing background context, Naveed disclosed that the family was already enduring significant distress following the tragic death of their paternal aunt in a recent road accident. This event deeply impacted their parents, and the sudden news concerning Humaira further upset the family. Explaining the misleading public statements made by his father earlier, Naveed clarified: “Media contacted my father at a time when he was emotionally overwhelmed, resulting in an unintended statement regarding the burial.”

Discussing his sister’s career and lifestyle, Naveed said, “Humaira entered the showbiz industry according to her own wish and lived a free and independent life. Naturally, parents are concerned for their children, so my parents’ questions were completely understandable.”

Addressing why the family had not been in regular contact with Humaira, Naveed revealed they had been out of direct communication for approximately a year. “The last time our mother spoke with her, Humaira did not share the exact location of her residence. Afterward, we lost contact entirely as her phone was switched off for the past six months. Despite numerous attempts, we were unable to locate her,” he explained.

Expressing frustration over media criticism directed at his family, Naveed questioned media priorities. “Instead of pointing fingers at my family, the media should ask the landlord why the apartment door was left unlocked or, if locked, who broke in after such a long interval. Furthermore, why was the landlord silent for so long, and why were no security cameras installed?”

He emphasized the family’s demand for a transparent investigation into the matter, noting that the truth will inevitably emerge following the medical examination and reports of Humaira’s death. Naveed also highlighted his family’s mental stress, particularly his mother’s continuous suffering amid this crisis.

Regarding funeral arrangements, Naveed explained, “As soon as Humaira’s body is handed over to us, we will consult our father and collectively decide on further arrangements for her burial.”

In a parallel development, renowned social activist Ramzan Chhipa rejected baseless claims circulating in the media. Confirming his organization’s support, he stated: “Humaira was like a daughter to me. If it becomes necessary to transfer her body to Lahore, the costs and arrangements will be handled entirely by the Chhipa Foundation.”
