Pakistan Azerbaijan Legal Cooperation Agreement Signed

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed a landmark Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at enhancing mutual collaboration in the legal sector, marking an important step toward modernizing Pakistan’s judicial system and strengthening its international legal partnerships.

In this connection, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, undertook an official visit to Baku to formalize legal collaboration between the two countries. During his visit, the Minister met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Hidayat Oglu Asadov. They exchanged views on a variety of topics related to bilateral cooperation, highlighting their mutual commitment to enhancing ties across multiple fields.

Minister Tarar also held high-level meetings with the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, Farid Tourab Oglu Ahmadov, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Inam Ittimad Oglu Karimov. These discussions particularly focused on areas such as legal reforms, digitalization of the judicial system, and promotion of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

The centerpiece and most significant outcome of the ministerial visit was the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation. This comprehensive agreement seeks to establish a structured framework for joint efforts, enabling institutional capacity-building, legal expertise exchanges, and coordinated initiatives between the Ministries of Law and Justice of both nations.

Both Pakistan and Azerbaijan expressed strong and sustained commitment to advancing long-term cooperation in legal and judicial matters. Officials emphasized that strengthening these ties will prove beneficial in enhancing the respective countries’ judicial systems, supporting effective legal governance and exchanging valuable experience and practices.

This visit signifies a key milestone in Pakistan’s strategic approach to bolstering international legal collaborations, modernizing the country’s domestic legal framework, and enhancing professional capacity within its judicial institutions.
