Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Engages at SCO Headquarters

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, visited the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) headquarters in China, where he held discussions with SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and other Secretariat staff. The meetings took place during Nurtleu’s official trip to participate in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers gathering.

During the visit, the parties addressed a range of topics related to the SCO’s ongoing activities. A primary area of focus was the preparation for upcoming high-level events, notably the SCO Summit of Heads of State, which is set to be held in China in September 2025.

Minister Nurtleu highlighted the critical role played by the SCO Secretariat in fostering comprehensive cooperation among member states and in orchestrating the overall functions of the organization. He also praised the Secretariat staff for their commitment to improving the efficiency of the SCO’s working mechanisms and institutional bodies. The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration as the organization continues to prepare for future events and further strengthen its multilateral cooperation.
