Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet Meeting Approves Compensation and Security Measures

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has approved a compensation package for families of provincial martyrs killed in Indian aggression, and for the heirs of a prominent individual killed in a recent terrorist attack. The government also announced plans to convene an All Parties Conference next week to address the province’s deteriorating security situation, inviting representatives from all political parties to develop a unified strategy for peace.

In its 35th meeting, attended by cabinet members and relevant administrative secretaries, the cabinet granted Rs. 5 million each to families of victims from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who were martyred due to Indian aggression. Additionally, Rs. 10 million was approved as compensation for the family of Maulana Khanzeb, who was killed in a terrorist incident.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the urgent need for a collaborative approach to counter worsening law and order issues in the province. He stated that an All Parties Conference would be held the following week, with invitations extended to stakeholders from all major political groups. The Chief Minister stressed that sustainable solutions can only be achieved through collective action, and highlighted the successes in restoring peace in Kurram District as an example. He suggested that similar strategies, involving community councils and consultations with local elders, could be extended to other areas to maintain stability.

The cabinet also discussed potential reforms to the 3-MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) law, deciding that its enforcement will now require prior approval from the provincial Home Department. This measure is aimed at preventing the misuse of the act, which Gandapur likened to the now-defunct FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulation) and noted has often been misapplied in the past.

Addressing the issue of natural disasters, the Chief Minister underscored that such events should not be politicized and reaffirmed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to assist other provinces in times of crisis. The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to work towards peace, good governance, and improved disaster response across the province.
