Imam Hussain Tribute Unites Poets and Scholars in Islamabad

A spiritual literary gathering honoring the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala was held at the Punjab Arts Council’s Conference Hall in Islamabad. Co-hosted by the Islamabad Crescent Lions Club, Qalam Qafila, and the Rawalpindi Arts Council, the event brought together an esteemed assembly of poets, scholars, journalists, and social thinkers for an evening marked by profound reflection and poetic tributes.
Dr. Nisar Turabi, a renowned poet and literary critic, presided over the Majlis-e-Salaam, while distinguished intellectual Dr. Farhat Abbas graced the occasion as chief guest. Notably, the event featured celebrated poets Naseem Sahar, Manzar Naqvi, Rashida Maheen, and guest of honor Riffat Anjum. The proceedings were expertly moderated by respected poet, journalist, and columnist Nayer Sarhadi, ensuring a seamless and engaging flow of discourse.
In their addresses, Ms. Sameera Raza, Acting President of the Islamabad Crescent Lions Club, and Syed Sabtain Raza Lodhi, a prominent social scientist and leading advocate for the organization, offered poignant remarks on the enduring legacy of Imam Hussain (A.S.). They underscored the enduring relevance of his example, emphasizing that following the path of Hussain is vital in today’s morally uncertain world. Their messages called for courage in facing injustice, steadfastness in truth, and the cultivation of upright character inspired by Karbala’s sacrifices.
The event’s literary segment featured stirring poetic tributes from acclaimed voices such as Prof. Tariq Hussain Shah Qadri, Syed Jamal Zaidi, Naeem Akram Qureshi, Ittifaq Butt, Rafiq Mughal, and Shehbaz Haider. Their verses, rich with emotion and spiritual depth, captivated the audience and invoked solemn reflection on the lessons of Karbala.
More than just a celebration of poetry, the gathering called attendees to unity, moral transformation, and a reaffirmation of the values of sacrifice, patience, and righteousness exemplified by Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions.
