EPA Punjab Crackdown on Illegal Plastic Bags in Lodhran

The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has intensified its crackdown on the use and distribution of banned plastic bags across various districts, seizing significant quantities of environmentally hazardous materials. As part of these ongoing efforts, authorities in Lodhran district confiscated 120 kilograms of plastic bags that fall below the permitted thickness.

According to EPA officials, the banned bags—those less than 75 microns in thickness—pose a serious threat to the environment, contributing to pollution and clogging drainage systems. The agency has carried out a series of inspections in markets and commercial areas to enforce the ban more effectively.

The EPA emphasized its commitment to eradicating the use of prohibited plastic bags throughout the province. Officials urged businesses and consumers to adopt eco-friendly alternatives while warning that violators will face strict legal action. This initiative is part of broader measures to promote sustainable practices and protect public health in Punjab.
