Advancing Climate Resilience in Pakistan

A joint conference organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination and the Center for Climate Diplomacy at COPAIR was held at COPAIR’s head office in Islamabad to chart pathways for inclusive, equitable and finance-driven climate resilience in Pakistan.

The gathering brought together government officials, development partners and sector experts including Ms. Nazia Zain, UNFCCC Focal Person for Pakistan, Ms. Humaira Mufti, Secretary NCSW, Brig. Saleem Khan of SIFC, Mr. Shahjahan Mirza, CEO PPIB, Dr. Faisal of PIDE, Dr. Noor Fatima of IIUI, Mr. Haris Khan, CEO Hashoo Foundation, Dr. Abida Razzaq, Vice President ZTBL, and Dr. Umer Maqsood from FAO, along with representatives from the Netherlands Embassy, UN Women, UNDP, UNICEF, NDMRF and other prominent climate advocacy organizations.

Discussions focused on strengthening climate diplomacy, unlocking climate finance, promoting climate justice and designing gender-responsive finance instruments that can accelerate Climate Resilience across Pakistan. Participants emphasized the role of public-private partnerships and coordinated policy action to channel finance toward vulnerable communities and resilient infrastructure.

The collaborative platform reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing climate diplomacy and resilient development ahead of COP30, with an emphasis on translating dialogue into actionable finance mechanisms and inclusive implementation at federal and provincial levels.
