On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities the EU joined forces with Sightsavers to launch the Beyond Barriers project, committing €1 million over three years to support women with disabilities.
The Beyond Barriers initiative will advance women’s rights, promote economic empowerment and work to prevent gender-based violence and harassment targeting women with disabilities. The project places inclusion and protection at its core while seeking practical steps to enhance livelihoods and safety.
Sightsavers Ireland is partnering with the European Union to drive this programme, combining advocacy and targeted support to ensure that women with disabilities can access opportunities on an equal footing.
Over the next three years the Beyond Barriers project aims to translate funding into measurable improvements in rights, economic participation and protection from abuse, working towards a world where women with disabilities can thrive.
