HSA Launches One Health Secretariat to Boost Integration

The Health Services Academy inaugurated a new One Health Secretariat at its Islamabad campus, marking a major step toward institutionalizing One Health coordination in Pakistan during the 15th International Public Health Conference.

The inauguration was led by Federal Minister of Health Mr. Syed Mustafa Kamal, who delivered the keynote and set out Pakistan’s vision for strengthening public health and advancing One Health integration. Federal Minister of Education Ms. Wajeeha Qamar addressed the session and highlighted the importance of intersectoral coordination for effective policy response.

VC HSA Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan opened the event with remarks that framed the secretariat as a national platform to coordinate efforts across ministries and stakeholders. The conference theme, The Next Generation’s Shield: A One Health Approach to Vaccination, Adolescent Resilience, and Climate Change, guided discussions around vaccination strategy, resilience among young people, and climate-related health risks.

The One Health Secretariat at HSA is intended to strengthen coordination, support pandemic preparedness and contribute to global health security by bringing together actors from relevant sectors. Organisers said the new office will help align policies and programmes to protect public health and improve response capacity across Pakistan.
