ISSI Seminar Marks Six Years of Youm-e-Istehsal in Kashmir

The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) held a comprehensive seminar to mark the anniversary of Youm-e-Istehsal, highlighting six years since India’s unilateral actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event gathered academics, policy experts, human rights activists, youth, and civil society members to discuss the ongoing situation and its implications.
The seminar featured prominent speakers, including Mr. Farooq Rahmani representing the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), and was attended by Additional Foreign Secretary for Asia-Pacific, Ambassador Imran Siddiqui, as the Guest of Honour. Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, served as Chief Guest for the event, which drew participation from a diverse audience, including many university students.
Speakers at the seminar strongly criticized India’s actions of 5 August 2019, emphasizing the legal concerns and human rights violations stemming from the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The discussions also touched on wider peace and security ramifications for the region.
Participants underscored the importance of Pakistan taking advantage of current international and diplomatic opportunities to advocate for a just and lasting resolution to the Kashmir dispute. The event reinforced calls for concerted action and continued awareness of the challenges faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
