Federal Hospital Employees Push for Health Risk Allowance Reinstatement

Islamabad: Employees at federal hospitals have united to call for the reinstatement of the Health Risk Allowance, which has remained frozen since 2014. A delegation representing various employee associations met with senior officials of the Ministry of National Health Services to highlight the challenges faced by healthcare staff and to urge the government to address this longstanding issue promptly.
During the meeting, the delegation stressed that the rising inflation over the years has significantly impacted healthcare workers, making the continued suspension of the allowance increasingly burdensome. They urged the government to consider the financial hardships faced by medical staff, especially given the increased risks associated with their professions. The representatives emphasized that reinstating the allowance is essential to acknowledge the sacrifices made by healthcare professionals and to improve their morale.
In response, senior officials from the Ministry of National Health Services assured the delegation of their support and commitment to the employees’ demands. The officials pledged to cooperate fully and to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the necessary steps for the allowance’s reinstatement. They also assured that efforts would be made to ensure a swift resolution to this issue, reflecting the government’s acknowledgment of healthcare workers’ vital role in the national health system.
