RawalPindi Police Conducts Open Courts and Anti-Drug Operations

Rawalpindi :The Rawalpindi police department is actively engaging with the community through open court sessions, intensifying anti-crime operations, and ensuring law and order as part of its ongoing efforts to uphold security. Multiple initiatives include open forums for citizen grievances, swift response to criminal activities, and heightened security measures during religious events, all aimed at fostering trust and safety within the city.

In line with Inspector General Punjab Dr Usman’s vision, two open court sessions are scheduled across different police stations. Chief Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani will conduct sessions at Thana Ratta Amral and Thana Gunjmundi, inviting citizens to present complaints related to various police stations and SDPO offices. These forums are intended to facilitate immediate resolution of grievances, prioritizing prompt action to improve community-police relations.

The police chief has also taken a serious notice of a recent child abuse incident in the Sadat Baruni area. Following reports of sexual assault on a minor girl, CPO directed the concerned officers to expedite the investigation and ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects. Two individuals are currently in custody undergoing interrogation, and authorities have initiated legal and medical procedures as per due process. Senior officers assured the public that those involved will be brought to justice swiftly.

Further law enforcement operations include a joint search conducted in Mandara, where police apprehended several undocumented Afghan nationals—including men, women, and children—who were found residing illegally. The investigation revealed that the primary suspect, a known criminal involved in previous cases such as attempted murder and terrorism, was harboring additional illegal immigrants. Record checks confirmed his past involvement in serious crimes, and the individuals are being processed for deportation after documentation.

Preparations for the upcoming Muharram religious observances are also underway. A security meeting led by SP emphasized strict adherence to protocols, including screening measures at processions and gatherings, along with designated routes and schedules. Officials assured full coordination with community leaders and adhering to established SOPs to maintain peace and order during this sensitive period.

In enforcement actions against petty and serious crimes, Rawalpindi police have arrested multiple suspects involved in dacoity, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of arms. Notably, New Town Police apprehended two individuals linked to theft cases, recovering over 31,000 rupees in stolen cash. Additionally, in a significant narcotics bust, the police confiscated more than 3 kilograms of illegal drugs, including 2.2 kg of heroin, from different localities, leading to the arrest of firearms and drug offenders.

The judicial system has also contributed to crime reduction, evidenced by a court sentencing in a narcotics case. The court sentenced a convicted drug dealer, Israr Hussan to 14 years in prison and fined him 200,000 rupees after evidence confirmed possession of 2.2 kg of narcotics. This conviction underscores successful investigative and prosecutorial efforts to combat drug-related offenses.

Further crackdown targeted individuals wanted in various cases, including a suspect wanted for issuing a bad check in 2024. Rawalpindi police utilized intelligence and investigation units to arrest the culprit, reinforcing their ongoing campaign against illegal activities.

The department is also actively conducting drives against illegal weapons possession, resulting in the arrest of five individuals and recovery of firearms and ammunition across different localities. Simultaneously, multiple arrests were made in connection with alcohol-related offenses, with over 60 bottles and 40 liters of liquor seized to curb illegal alcohol trade.

Lastly, authorities remain vigilant regarding legal compliance, as two residents were detained for violating the Rent Control Act, emphasizing the department’s focus on enforcing property laws as part of broader community regulation efforts.
