Competition Law Awareness for Finance Students in Pakistan

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) held an educational session on Competition Law for students pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at Mannabi Business School. The initiative aimed to equip future finance professionals with a clear understanding of the legal framework that ensures fair competition and consumer protection in the market.
Leading the session, CCP officials Ahmed Qadir, Mohammad Salman Zafar, and Noman Ahmed delivered detailed presentations on key aspects of Competition Law. Their talks covered critical topics such as abuse of dominant market position, cartelization, deceptive marketing practices, and the regulations surrounding mergers and acquisitions. The officials also provided historical context and emphasized the significance of these laws in promoting economic growth and protecting consumer welfare. The session was moderated by Marryum Pervaiz, Head of Advocacy at the CCP.
Students actively participated in the session, engaging with CCP representatives and posing insightful questions about the enforcement of competition law. The officials addressed all queries, offering comprehensive explanations and clarifications.
The CCP expressed its gratitude to Anas Khan, Head of the ACCA Department and Mannabi Industry Linkages & Employability, along with other faculty members, for their collaboration and efforts in raising awareness about Competition Law among aspiring finance professionals.
