Pakistan Morocco Parliamentary Group Deepens Bilateral Cooperation

The Pakistan–Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group met at Parliament House to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the two countries, with a particular focus on strengthening parliamentary, economic, and diplomatic ties. The meeting, chaired by Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan, was attended by Morocco’s Ambassador, Mr. Mohamed Karmoune, senior Moroccan officials, and Pakistani senators.

Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan opened the session by highlighting the need for closer engagement across various sectors. Members from both sides expressed a mutual interest in boosting collaboration in education, health, trade, and agriculture. They agreed that regular parliamentary exchanges could lay a solid foundation for long-term cooperation and strengthen connections between the peoples of both countries.

Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, supported these views and stressed the importance of institutional collaboration within policy frameworks. She also identified trade, tourism, and cultural exchange as key areas for a sustainable partnership.

Ambassador Karmoune reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to advancing ties with Pakistan, pointing out the need to balance trade by encouraging more imports from Pakistan. He also raised the issue of difficulties faced by Moroccans in obtaining Pakistani visas, suggesting that, since Morocco now offers e-visa facilities to Pakistanis, Pakistan should reciprocate to facilitate Moroccan applicants. The ambassador further extended an invitation for high-level visits to strengthen relations.

Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki emphasized the significance of the meeting for enhancing bilateral relations and welcomed the Moroccan delegation. Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman proposed new areas for collaboration, including education, medical equipment, sports, tourism, and defense training, and recommended the establishment of a bilateral agreement to promote tourism. Senator Umer Farooq called for scholarships for Pakistani students across all provinces and advocated increased trade as a way to strengthen Pakistan’s economy.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening Pakistan–Morocco relations through ongoing parliamentary dialogue and improved institutional cooperation, underlining that continuous exchanges and practical initiatives would help foster stronger ties and people-to-people connections.
