ISSI and BIISS Sign MoU to Boost Pakistan-Bangladesh Cooperation

The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Institute of International Strategic Studies (BIISS) to enhance cooperation between the two countries’ leading think tanks. The agreement aims to advance collaboration in research and academic exchanges, highlighting efforts to strengthen strategic ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The MoU was formalized during an official visit to Dhaka by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both nations, including Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General of BIISS, who signed on behalf of Bangladesh, and Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, who represented ISSI.

This accord is seen as a step toward promoting mutual understanding and fostering deeper people-to-people connections between the two countries. Under the agreement, ISSI and BIISS will establish academic contacts, participate in joint research on national, regional, and global issues, and exchange information and expertise. The cooperation program includes collaborative research projects, academic exchange of experts and researchers, and efforts to improve research and academic activities at both institutes.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of ISSI, welcomed the signing, emphasizing that the MoU symbolizes both nations’ shared commitment to dialogue and scholarly collaboration. He expressed confidence that this partnership would contribute to the growth of friendly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
