Chief Information Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, accompanied by Information Commissioner Ijaz Hassan Awan, presented the bi-annual report of their department to Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at Parliament House in Islamabad. The presentation highlighted the department’s recent activities, achievements, and ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani commended the efforts of the Information Commission in strengthening access to information laws and facilitating the public’s right to information. The bi-annual report detailed challenges faced by the commission as well as progress made in addressing citizens’ information requests and improving compliance among government departments.
The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and the critical role of information commissioners in ensuring that public bodies remain accountable. Both sides discussed future strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the Information Commission and further improve public access to official information.
