Improving MSDS Compliance at GP and Dental Clinics
The Punjab Healthcare Commission organised a focused training session for newly appointed Project Management Unit surveyors to evaluate the implementation of minimum service delivery standards at family physician/general practitioner and dental clinics. The programme aimed to strengthen MSDS compliance by equipping surveyors with the skills to assess service delivery against regulatory benchmarks and patient safety expectations.
Eleven surveyors attended in person while six connected online from Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad, reflecting the Commission’s effort to build consistent inspection capacity across the province. Participants received detailed briefings on the PHC regulatory framework, service delivery standards, compliance protocols and the inspection tools required for accurate on-site evaluations of GP and dental clinics.
Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Salariya, Director of Clinical Governance and Organisational Standards, outlined the Commission’s regulatory structure and underlined key elements of assessment methodology and professional conduct expected from surveyors. Technical presentations on MSDS were delivered by Dr Farooq Ahmed Adeel, Additional Director (Standards Development & Dissemination/trainings), and by Dr Imtiaz Ali and Dr Nadia Rasheed, both Deputy Directors (SDD), who reviewed practical inspection approaches and compliance checklists relevant to primary care and dental settings.
By reinforcing practical knowledge and inspection techniques, the session is expected to improve the accuracy and consistency of MSDS compliance assessments at clinics across Punjab, supporting better oversight, safer care and higher standards of service delivery at the community level.
